SPF-Lee Foundation Study Awards

The SPF-Lee Foundation Study Awards are financial benefits given to officers for their children's education. The study awards are given for full-time study in government schools and local universities. There are two types of awards and a grant:

  • Scholastic Achievement Awards (SAA) — based on excellent academic results.
  • Study Awards (SA) — based on overall pass in examination or is being promoted to the next study level.
  • Study Grant (SG) — for children with special educational needs.

Eligibility

  • Children of serving officers who are members of the PCWF or
  • Children of serving SPF officers who are members of the Singapore Police Co-Operative Society Ltd.

Scholarship Application for Degree Studies in Nursing at National University of Singapore

Lee Foundation, known for its support of education in Singapore, has donated two nursing scholarships (Thio Kok Foe & Choo Kim Beng Nursing Scholarship) to the National University of Singapore since 2007. These scholarships are offered on a yearly basis and do not carry any bond. At least one scholarship a year is set aside for children of Police Officers if he/she meets the requirements.

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • have one or both parents serving in the Singapore Police Force;
  • be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident;
  • be a first, second or third year student in the BSc (Nursing) at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore;
  • have good academic records and extra-curricular activities records; and
  • have a per capita household income not exceeding S$1,500.

Terms of Award

  • The value of each scholarship is one-time S$7,000 for one annum.
  • A scholarship shall be tenable for the academic year in which it is awarded but scholarship recipients may re-apply in subsequent academic years.
  • A Selection Committee comprising representatives from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies will consider the candidates' academic records, financial circumstances and extra-curricular activities.
  • The Selection Committee reserves the right not to award a scholarship if there are no candidates who match the criteria.
  • Applicants/Awardees must not concurrently hold any other form of free aid e.g. bursaries, scholarships without prior approval from the respective awarding bodies.

Georgette Chen Study Award Application for Degree Studies at Yale-NUS College

The Georgette Chen Trust and Dr Della Suantio Lee have provided study awards for children of police officers to pursue degree studies at Yale-NUS College. These study awards are offered on a yearly basis and do not carry any bond.

NUS Campus

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • have one or both parents serving in the Singapore Police Force;
  • be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident;
  • have excellent academic achievements and extracurricular accomplishments; and
  • gain admission to Yale-NUS College, which includes a thorough application process including written essays, an interview with admissions staff and documentation of academic achievement.
  • The decision of the College on the selection of the awardee(s) is final and not open for appeal.

Details of Award

The award per year will cover tuition fees and residential college fees at Yale-NUS College. Please visit Yale-NUS website at https://www.yale-nus.edu.sg/ for prevailing tuition and residential college fees. The award is tenable for 2 semesters of the awardee’s study at the College.
